When It All Shatters

The Paradigm Shift: From Protection to Presence - Q&A with

This has been a milestone for week for the team at The Expansion Project. Even though we launched a year ago, there were little things here and there that were tying us to the past. This is the week that we dug in deep and really let it all go.

There was a symbolic moment that happened early in the week as we took down the old Dragonfly Wellness Centre sign, and I wanted to tell you about it.

Let me paint the picture for you.

It's that time in the morning where everyone is arriving at the office after our morning routine of energetically clearing the space with sage and incense. Texas arranges to get a tall ladder from Victory's place, and Faizan provides the truck to transport it. Texas carefully and painstakingly removes each line and letter from the sign above our external door while Stacy and Cori hold the ladder and hang around to be part of the momentous moment.

Finally, the logo is ready to come down.

Now, I may have told you the backstory to that logo over the years, but in case you missed it, it's a beautiful rendering of a dragonfly. To me, the dragonfly is about staying in the moment while adapting to our ever-changing environment and circumstances. It's about beauty in unexpected places and the willingness to find a new "home" when the time is right. It's about connection, community, and most importantly, hope.

So Texas carefully removes the screws holding up the front end of the sign. Suddenly, without the warning, the whole dragonfly falls off the awning and comes crashing down, shattering on the cement.

I wasn't there to witness it, but I can just imagine the moment of stunned silence and the look on Texas, Cori, and Dr. Stacy's faces as they took in the jumbled pieces that once meant so much to us, lying in a heap on the floor.

Melissa and Faizan were in the office that day as it all happened, and Monique was around too. We all got to see the physical shards of the old dream, and each one of us had the same thought: this is the way it HAD to be.

You see, there was a kind of energetic release for us as that sign shattered. It was the big, bold end of something beautiful, and she sure went out with a BANG!

I wonder about these moments in our lives.

There are these moments and as they are happening, you just know something big has shifted.

I have felt this feeling other times too, where something beautiful ends in a big way. While it's a little sad, there's also a long exhale and palpable room for something new. Something old has been put to rest (with a bit of fanfare!) and honouring that loss paves the way for the next thing to take root and grow.

Today I invite you to join us in honouring those dreams from the past that were right at the time, but have since shattered to make space for something new in our lives. For those friendships you thought would last forever but didn't, those family connections that felt unshakeable but weren't, those business ideas that flourished and then fizzled, those things you invested in and then let go of, those places that felt like home and then one day, just simply didn't anymore.

Texas said something in last week's Mentorship Circle that brought a hush over the room: "The destination is CHANGE."

As we move forward in this consciousness journey, openness to change becomes something we get more and more comfortable with. As Monique writes in "The How" (pg. 101-102):

"In the aligned state, you stop resisting change. You don't have to love it, but you understand it's part of life. Things are always moving, shifting, unfolding - and you begin to trust that there's wisdom in that movement. Instead of clinging to what was or fearing what might be, you meet each moment as it comes. You know that change often brings growth, even when it's uncomfortable. Like a tree shedding its leaves, you trust the process - even when it looks like loss. Maybe a job ends or a relationship shifts, and instead of panicking, you pause. You get curious. You ask, "What is this trying to show me?" That openness makes space for possibility, for new directions you would never have found if you stayed clinging to the old."

And speaking of the book, before the dragonfly came crashing down, Monique hosted our September session of Answers to The How, our monthly live Q&A about the book! In case you missed it, we have included the full recording as this week's video. Keep an eye out on our YouTube channel (@expansionnow) for smaller clips from this call to share with family and friends over the next of couple weeks.

And thank you for being willing to let go of the old and move courageously into the new, whatever that may look like for me, for you, for all of us.

Yours in The Great Shattering,

Dr. Saira

Harder Questions, Clearer Answers...in Love.
This week, my husband Faizan and I recorded a video and podcast episode. It's been a long time since we sat in a recording studio together, and it was more fun than I was expecting an impromptu afternoon of recording to be. A few years ago, we had the idea to start a podcast where we talked about "conscious living", and our friends and family really enjoyed it. We stopped recor...
How Poetry Saved my Childhood
Have you ever had a really random idea for no good reason, dismissed it totally, then regretted it later? I'm trying to minimize regret these days, so when a random idea comes, I've been following it through. A couple months ago, I had a random idea to connect two of my friends. It was a bit of a tricky thing to make happen, because I was getting a nudge that it needed to be mo...
