Tearing Down the Walls
|
Happy Friday!
It's Dr. Saira with your weekly update and love letter. And today is a little different.
Usually, I write this really close to the time I send it, but this week I have to write it earlier because we are ramping up to be at our Women's Retreat. The team will make sure it comes out on time, but the writing happened last Tuesday. Weird how time works in the interwebs, eh?
As I sit here today, surrounded by items to pack for this exquisite time away on a remote horse ranch, I find myself wondering what it is about this annual women's get-away that has kept me coming back for the past three years. When Texas and I were recording this week's video, it occured to me: at Women's Retreat, I am leading from alignment.
I didn't know that is what it was called before my good friend and business partner Monique Peck, introduced the term to me. All I knew is that when I lead workshops and retreats I don't feel doubt, nervousness, wondering if I'm doing the right thing, questioning how it's landing for people - I'm just free to allow clarity and guidance to flow through me.
This particular retreat is by invitation only, and is limited to a very small and intimate group. Because participants already trust me deeply, there is very little resistance or skepticism as we wander in to deep wounds, old trauma, and intergenerational healing. I have noticed that what we can get through at the retreat often takes several years of therapy to match.
What I have also realized is that the way I was practicing 1:1 therapy was missing an essential ingredient that is always present in the workshop and retreat space - permission to have deep love and affection for my clients.
When we train as therapists, we don't talk about love. Perhaps if you are trained in a particular philosophy, we might talk about "unconditional positive regard". But this does not hold the same vibrational frequency as Love.
Love is what you feel when you smell your first blooming lilac of the season.
Love is what you sense when those sweet little ducklings get in a line behind their mama.
Love is the unfurling of a new leaf from a shrub that looks like it died over winter.
Love is the sweet stickiness of your toddler's ice-cream-faced kisses.
Love is the whisper you hear late at night that says, "Everything is exactly as it should be - there's nothing to fix or change - you are okay as you are."
Love is the force that created this planet that we stand on, and Love is what breaks down our bodies after we die.
Love is what I am surrounded by during the Women's Retreat.
And yet we talk about none of this when training to help people who are in pain.
My good friend Stacy has been helping as a Team Member over the last three years at the retreat. During that first workshop, she said, "Wouldn't it be nice if life was a workshop?"
Over the last several months, her life has completely re-arranged itself as she steps into her own aligned leadership.
We were joking just a few weeks ago about both of our lives now look like a workshop.
There are synchronicities, miraculous breakthroughs, big feelings that restructure the way we understand humanity, and most importantly, belly-holding laughter.
Our lives are full and rich and guided by purpose.
And all it took was a willingness to tear down the walls and let love in. And then let love through.
I want to share this experience with you - the one where healing feels natural and fluid and you aren't left feeling like that was a one-time thing that you have to wait until next year to replicate.
And with that in mind, I want you to hear my heart when I invite you to join Texas and I on June 7.
We want you to have an in-the-body experience of that love, whether you are in the room with us or linking in virtually. We want to bring that workshop energy that is so healing and transformative to you so you can step into aligned leadership in your own life. We want you to come with an open-mind, a willing heart, and a spirit that is yearning for the yes.
Early bird pricing has now passed, but seats are still available.
Don't wait too long - this could be the love you have been looking for all along.
Yours in An Aligned Life,
Dr. Saira
