New Year, Big Changes
|
Every week, I record a video to go out with the newsletter. This week's video was different than most weeks because I cried a little.
Well, to be honest, it was more like a medium amount.
So what was it that could move me to tears that I would want to share with the world, you ask?
Change.
Change is in the air as people hunker down into this new calendar year, and for some of us, the last few weeks have felt like we're walking through a dark forest in a snowy blizzard with no cozy cabin in sight!
There is an uncomfortable ripple moving through our collective consciousness and many of us can feel it, not sure whether to move forward, stay still, or simply hold on for dear life.
For me, the reminder of that ripple of change came yesterday afternoon when my husband (who is also our resident expert on all things tech at The Expansion Project) asked me to write a few lines of text to help re-direct people if they try to access the old Dragonfly Wellness website. It sounded like a pretty simple task, but as each time I sat down to do it I found myself getting irritable and distracted.
When I actually let myself feel into the resistance, I realized that some grief was bubbling up as our team releases the old website and logo. More on the logo and what it means to me in this week's video.
So let me share a little more with you about what's going on behind the curtain.
I feel like I want to include you in on this as you have been walking this journey for days or weeks or months or years with me. From the 1200 or so people on our original Dragonfly Wellness mailing list, you are one of 100-ish people that opted-in to keep moving forward with us to receive these weekly newsletters as we transform and evolve into The Expansion Project.
So I owe you ATLEAST this. If not, more.
I've been reflecting on the thousands of hours that went into building and maintaining a thriving private therapy practice, and all the hundreds of stories I have held, the tears I have witnessed, and especially the victories I have had the privilege to share and savour with my clients.
I have been thinking about those who took a chance on me when I was a brand-new practitioner, and those who enthusiastically let me test out some new ideas I was learning or be willing to consider an unconventional perspective or let me fumble through a new technique as I grew through the profession, expanding my repertoire of therapy tools.
I've been thinking about the business partners and therapists and other wellness practitioners that came, stayed for a while, and then moved on, usually effortlessly, sometimes creating a little more of painful rift as they came and went. I've been remebering the office spaces and the home-office-set-ups as I went from being a new bride to a new mom to a seasoned therapist in the throes of her own mental-health crisis.
I have been remembering all the breakthrough moments during sessions, and that look in a client's eye when they really, truly connected with that deep part of them that has always been there, buried under the pain of the past and the stress of the future. The moment of meeting their Aligned Self... it still just takes my breath away.
Mostly, I have been thinking about all the people who encouraged and supported me along the way: my sister, my closest friends, my parents, my husband, my extended family, and all the well-wishers and cheerleaders who believed in me and recommended my services so I had a full load, non-stop, for many, many years.
And now as I step off one path I find myself stepping onto another.
In addition to working with my former clients for a session or two when they need one, I am now being asked to co-lead this incredible, budding community into expanded states of consciousness while simultaneously letting go of my identity as a private practice therapist who only occasionally colours outside the approved lines of mainstream therapy.
I am being asked to join this vibrant and exceptionally talented group of trail-blazers that dare to see the world as it could be, who know in their bones that peace and prosperity and fairness for all is ACTUALLY possible and that we don't have to marinade in bottomless pits of pain and suffering to get to health and healing .... that health and healing is actually the starting line, not the finish line.
I am being called forward into a new kind of teaching and learning system where the wisdom of all is welcomed and celebrated, and the hierarchies of old simply melt away. I am being shown to usher other therapists and mental health practitioners into this new era where we trust that most clients don't really need us, they just need to find themselves again.
And I am finally ready.
My deeper question is: are you?
As we enter this new year, you may find yourself being called onto a new path, and not just because the date changed on the calendar, but because we have given meaning and significance to this day and the impact of this is felt in our bones.
Think of the other days that might just be a random Tuesday to someone else, but for you it's the day your dad died or the day your niece was born or the day you got sober from an addiction. It's a human-brain tendency to mark things in the passage of time, and you could give significance to THIS day right now.
Maybe January 1 came and went without much fanfare, but as you are reading this, right now, you could set an intention to make this the first day of the rest of your life.
And just how I have been asked to step in to some new and big things, so might you be hearing the call to step forward, without a safety net, into the life you have been half-heartedly hoping for, feeling like it's too big or too bold or too unattainable.
So how might you do that?
Well, you probably already have lots of tools and strategies that help you manage your day-to-day. The most important tool is the one that allows you to tune in to that inner voice that gets you back to an aligned state, because only YOU really know what you need.
If you are ready to walk the new path but find it helpful to have a framework to understand the ups and downs of your life where sometimes the body, the mind, the past, and the future get the better of you, you may be interested in joining us for the Foundations of Consciousness Course - Expanded Version.
Let me tell you a little about this, because it's what's been on my mind (besides the crying stuff above!) over the past many days.
Facilitated by the Lead Visionary of The Expansion Project (Monique Peck), this online, half-day course answers five key questions:
- Who Am I? (exploring your true nature)
- How Did I Get Here? (understanding where your habits and patterns formed)
- What's Possible? (discovering emotional balance, unity consciounsess, and heightend creativity)
- Where Am I? (assessing your current inner state)
- How Do I Return? (learning The Presence Protocol TM)
There are some incredible benefits from attending the course and practicing this almost-magical technique that Monique has spent countless hours developing, and if you are already a member of The Expansion Project, you get to attend this course FOR FREE!!
