A Story of Melting Walls
|
When I think of isolation, I picture a remote cabin in the back-woods somewhere where the only light source is a kerosene lamp.
Either that, or a monk on a mountain.
My husband would be quite happy as that monk on a mountain (and now that we actually live on a mountain and he is studying yogic principles, we joke that he got his wish but wasn't specific enough about being ALONE on that mountain!)
Being away from humans is not something that makes sense to me, and yet some of my closest loved ones are people who like their space.
So, as you can imagine, the topic of isolation and withdrawal from others has always been a little bit challenging for me to understand.
Until yesterday.
Every week at The Expansion Project, we host live events where people can come to gather, learn, and grow together. Yesterday, during on of these interactive teaching sessions, one of our community members shared her experience of isolation, which is VERY different than the monk-on-a-mountain trope.
This person, like me, is very social, very visible, very much engaged in the people-y elements of life. She has a thriving business and a full family life - she is a natural giver, a natural helper. She even made me chicken soup when our family was struggling with cold-and-flu season last month! She is busy and on-the-go, and always smiling when she's out in the world.
And she got me thinking about a different kind of isolation - the one that happens almost invisibly.
So this newsletter is dedicated to her and all the folks like her.
It's for those of us who battle crippling loneliness but look like we have loads of human connections.
It's for those of us who are the life of the party and the star of the show but feel empty even in the midst of the crowd.
It is for those of us that don't know how to ask for help and are unwilling to show any cracks in our carefully constructed armour.
I'm here to remind you that there can be another way.
Two years ago, I let my walls of separateness melt so I could let in new friends. It started with a dinner at a Greek restaurant where we fell into a conversation vortex and five hours just slipped away as we realized how much we had in common, and it evolved from there.
These new friends housed us when we had to evacuate our home due to wildfires. They held my hand as my dog died. They laughed with me and cried with me and called me out and held the light. They let me keep being me and refused to put me on a pedestal or be tricked by the masks I wore or be deterred by my busy-ness.
They kept coming back, kept gently creeping in until all that was left was one heart, one mind, one vision between us.
Who are these people?
These new friends already feel like old friends, and their names are Monique and Texas Peck. Monique and Texas are my dear soul-family and the co-founders of The Expansion Project.
As our friendship has formed and deepened and grown, we have all begun to witness the power of the collective.
We have started to see how together we are able to offer so much more to the world than any one of us could have offered alone.
We are seeing how our circle of four is already expanding to hold all of those looking for a place to land where they can truly arrive as they are, no masks, no walls, no pretenses, just a willingness to be seen and known in all our human imperfections.
And in less than 10 days, Monique is offering a ground-breaking course to help people learn how to align to their Highest Self.
She will teach a technique that offers a clear pathway back, over and over, to that place where we get connected in to All That Is - a place where there loneliness and isolation transform and we can effortlessly respond to the call towards intentional solitude when we hear it.
The course is called Foundations in Consciousness - The Expanded Version.
But this invitation is not about the course - the invitation is for you to meet and learn from Monique.
I want you to meet Monique, because she has changed my life and everything I believe about the boundaries and limitations I used to think were expected in friendship.
I want you to meet Monique because she embodies the soul-sisterhood and unconditional love that I have travelled lifetimes to find.
I want you to meet Monique because I want the world to hear what she has to say.
I want you to meet Monique because knowing her has changed my life....and I think it could change yours.
You can't find her course online because we are only inviting those connected to our vision who want to take the next step in their personal evolution. The only way to register is to click the link below.
And the only way you will click the link below is if you are ready to join a movement that will transform the way you think about yourself and healing journey, and you are willing to step into the in-between space where you decide you no longer want to do this work alone.
We meet online Saturday, January 25 at 10:00 - 2:00 pm PST, and cost is $80.
Will you join us?
Yours in Melting our Walls,
Dr. Saira
